COVID-19 Update 6/7/20

Update from Pastor Tomlin to Central Baptist Church family > Psalm 91:1-3

Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

I hope everyone is doing well and has kept safe during these trying times. We have been praying for everyone, and are thankful for God’s care for the church through it all.

Just a reminder that, as of now, we plan to resume all regular church activities starting June 14th. If you teach a Sunday School class, please contact your class so they are aware, and be prepared to teach on that Sunday. We also plan to resume our regular nursery schedule. If you are unable to return to your normal duties, please let me know.

I would also like to make the church aware that two of the Hispanic church members contracted COVID-19. They last attended church services on May 24th, and the following week they became sick. It was not until this past Monday that they were tested for the virus, and it came back positive. They have not been on campus or in the church since May 24th, and no one else from the Hispanic church has become ill to this point. Thank the Lord it was a very mild case, and they have fully recovered. If there are any new developments, we will inform the church, especially if it could potentially affect the congregation.

Once again, we are thankful for God’s care through all of this. God truly is good. If there are any questions or concerns feel free to call me at the church.

You all will continue to be in my prayers, Pastor Tomlin

COVID-19 Update

Dear Church Family,

 Psalm 91:1-3

1  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

If there was ever a time for the Church to draw close to the Lord, it would be now. I would encourage you during this time to spend much time with the Lord. The more of His voice you are hearing, the less you will be overwhelmed by the news we are hearing every minute of every day (Isaiah 26:3). This didn’t take the Lord by surprise, and He has promised us that during times like these that He would uphold us (Isaiah 41:10). We are not without hope for the Almighty is our hope.

I urge everyone to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe and to trust the Lord to guide you in your decisions.

Having said that, I would like to give a quick update. As of now the doors of the church are still open, and we will have both Sunday School and regular services. We anticipate that the attendance will be much smaller than normal, and we have made provisions to adjust our Sunday School classes as necessary. We encourage everyone to use good judgment, and, by all means, if you do not feel comfortable coming to church, don’t. We will have live streaming available to all those who would like to join us, but feel they need to remain at home. We do not want anyone to feel pressure to attend, especially those who are most vulnerable. Please be safe, and know that we are praying for you during these trying times.

If you are in a leadership position, or are over a department, and do not feel you will be able to attend, please let me know ASAP. This will greatly aid us in making all the necessary arrangements and adjustments as we move forward. My church cell number is: (901) 489-1969. We greatly appreciate your cooperation. Never forget that the Lord will see us through this, as He has seen the Church through many difficult and dark times throughout her history (Matthew 16:18).

To join us via live streaming, go to www.cbmemphis.org and go the “Media” tab and select “Live Streaming.” Click on the “Play” button (the triangle in the middle of the screen). If the services have begun, they will begin to play on your screen. If services have not begun, you will have to click the “Play” button again in a minute. OR it may begin to automatically play.

Giving – Dan Amburgey will be giving instructions on how to give online during the morning service.

           – you should have received an email detailing how to use the Elexio app to give your tithes and offerings.

          – We will have pre-addressed envelopes available to those who would like to mail in their tithe. You can contact me or Dan Amburgey, and we will arrange a way to get them to you if you are unable to pick them up.

In Christ,

Pastor Chris Tomlin

COVID-19 Update

After much prayer and consideration Central Baptist Church will continue our normally scheduled services with the exception of our Wednesday evening activities.

There will be no Wednesday evening meal or Master’s Club until school resumes; however, Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer will continue as normal.

We will continue to monitor and to be in prayer about the situation, and we will make any necessary updates if and when things change.

If you would like to be a part of our services, but feel you cannot attend, we do offer a live-streaming option. You can find the link on our “media” tab at the top of the home page.
